Program Overview

World Endeavors’ Spanish Plus Internship Program in Madrid combines four weeks of Spanish classes with an eight-week individualized internship. Designed for participants with intermediate Spanish (CEFR B1+), the program builds both language and professional skills.

Phase One:
Spend four weeks taking Spanish classes with our in-country instructional partner, building practical vocabulary and confidence for everyday and professional communication.

Phase Two:
Spend the following eight weeks in an individualized internship in Madrid, matched to your academic background, skills, and goals. You’ll apply your Spanish in a real-world work environment while gaining hands-on professional experience.

Language Requirements

The Spanish Plus Internship Program in Madrid welcomes interns from around the world and supports both language and professional growth. Participants should begin with at least an intermediate level of Spanish (CEFR B1 or higher). During your Spanish classes, you’ll build on your existing skills to become a more confident and effective communicator in both everyday and professional settings.

Housing Options

World Endeavors interns in Madrid can live with a local host family for true immersion in the Spanish lifestyle, or they can live in a shared flat with other international interns and students. Breakfast and dinner are included with the host family stay.

While meals aren’t included at the shared flat, apartments are equipped with a fully furnished kitchen, so interns can grocery shop and prepare meals at home. All housing options are located in proximity to public transportation.

  • Pre-Departure Orientation: Detailed guidance on travel arrangements, visa assistance, cultural preparation, and internship expectations
  • In-Country Orientation: Upon arrival in Madrid, you will receive an orientation to help you settle in, covering topics such as health and safety, public transportation, local customs, emergency procedures, and essential contacts
  • 24/7 Emergency Support: Access to our local team in Spain for any issues that may arise during your stay, from medical assistance to lost documents

  • Airport welcome and transfer to accommodation upon arrival.
  • Homestays: Private bedroom within a local Spaniard’s home for cultural immersion. Access to kitchen and shared living spaces included. Two meals provided each day.
  • Student Residence: Fully furnished apartments with utilities (Wi-Fi, electricity, etc.) included, private bedroom and shared bathroom. Residences also include fully furnished kitchens so participants can shop for groceries and prepare meals at home.

This internship includes four weeks of Spanish language classes provided by our partner institution. Choose the language classes that suit your current skill level:

Intensive: Our standard Intensive Courses placement is intended for students who want to gain a better understanding of Spanish in general. Classes are held in the mornings, so your afternoons are free to explore the city or participate in further study sessions.

Intensive Plus Speaking Skills: For those with particular interest in developing their verbal communication in Spanish, this course pairs the Intensive morning sessions with extra conversation classes.
Participation in an Intensive Plus Speaking Skills course may incur an additional fee. Contact an advisor for more details.

What's Not Included

  • Airfare to and from Ireland is not included in the program fee

  • Daily transportation between your accommodation and your host company, or between your accommodation and your English lessons

  • Any personal expenses such as dining and entertainment are the intern’s responsibility

Currently, the cost of the World Endeavors Spanish Plus Internship Program in Madrid is being finalized. The program fee will include the core services and support needed for both the language-learning and internship portions of the experience.

Program Dates

The Spanish Plus Internship Program in Madrid, Spain, is an individualized program. This means that we accept travelers on a rolling basis.

We work with your schedule to find an arrival window that works for both you and your internship site! After your application, a program advisor can help you choose the best date for arrival in Ireland.

Payment Schedule

  1. Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of €95 is due when you submit your application.
  2. Program Deposit: Upon acceptance into the program, a deposit of €500 is required to enroll.
  3. Remaining Balance: The remaining program fee is due 8 weeks before the start of your program.

Financial Aid and Scholarship

We offer a limited number of scholarships for eligible applicants, as well as for students from our Affiliate University partners.

In terms of Financial Aid, we often require our travelers to earn credit for their internship in order to be eligible to utilize any financial aid. We have a school of record where you can earn transfer credit, or you may be able to work with your home institution to earn credit for your program. We can help guide you through whatever option works best for you.
