In many ways, this small South American country encompasses a whole continent. Within its borders, you will find the Andean culture of Bolivia and Ecuador, the Caribbean lifestyle of Panama and Costa Rica, and the Amazonian culture of Brazil and Peru. Colombia also encapsulates all the biodiversity that South America has to offer: from its Caribbean beaches and Amazon rainforests to deserts and the Andes mountains. This megadiversity offers a rich playground of experiences, from horse riding in the Coffee Triangle, to rock climbing in the Santander region, or canoeing through mangrove forests in La Boquilla.
While Colombia officially has two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season, because of the country’s varied ecosystems and altitudes, it’s best to prepare for all four seasons in one trip. On the whole, the Caribbean coast is hot and humid, while Bogota and the higher Andean regions are cool and rainy.
