Location
Seville is the capital of Andalusia, the southernmost region of Spain and the home of flamenco dancing, bullfighting, and some of Europe’s most vivacious and colorful festivals. Morocco is just across the strait of Gibraltar, and Andalusia is a crossroads of European and African culture with a flair entirely its own. The region’s culture is exemplified in Seville, where a history of cross-cultural sharing can be seen in a dazzling array of North African, European, and Middle Eastern architecture. Today’s Seville is a graceful and vibrant city where it’s easy to spend an afternoon following cobbled alleyways or relaxing in a palm-lined courtyard or to spend a night with friends sharing a plate of tapas and dancing the night away.
Housing
Participants in this program stay with local Spanish host families. Staying with families is a valuable part of becoming immersed in the local culture, and it’s one of the best ways for students to practice their Spanish outside the classroom. Host families are very welcoming and enjoy having foreign students stay with them. All host family accommodation includes three meals every day plus laundry facilities.
