Program Overview

The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, originally a 16th century monastery, is a beautiful campus filled with classic columns, immaculate lawns and ancient paving stones in the heart of Milan. With over 20,000 students, this university, known as Cattolica, is one of the biggest campuses in Italy with the most English-taught programmes. Cattolica has a global reputation for excellent academics in small classes with lots of opportunities for engagement with expert faculty. It offers an impressive range of programs in the fields of economics, agriculture, psychology and lots more.

With loads of activities, sports facilities and a health center, as well as a dedicated support team and Buddy program for international students, you will be engaged, entertained and encouraged throughout your study abroad experience here.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The Buddy Program at Cattolica is tailored specifically to the needs of international students and will help you make new friends, learn Italian, absorb the culture and get helpful information on navigating the services and academics of the university.

REQUIREMENTS

Approval received from the home university.
Current official undergraduate degree transcript.
Valid passport until at least 6 months after your program end date. Copy of your passport (photo page).
Most students will be required to obtain a study visa. The application process can be extensive but World Endeavors staff will walk you through it!

Location

Because there are so many universities and colleges here, the city of Milan welcomes students from across the globe. its digital service designed specifically for students, which offers discounts, useful information on student life and exclusive cultural offers.

Milan has a good public transport system of buses, trains and trams that offer student discounts. The city is filled with great places to study and discuss with fellow students, from cafes to libraries, tree-lined parts to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a classical arcade of boutiques and restaurants.

Housing

The university offers various accommodation options. Students can stay on campus in the Bicocca Village Residence, with options ranging from single or shared rooms and bathrooms in one, two or three-bedroom apartments. Students can also opt to stay in MIL Service apartments off campus with various configurations of bedrooms and bathrooms, inclusive of wifi and cleaning.

Life in Milan

The economic capital of Italy, Milan is home to many small businesses and large multinational companies. With its large international community, it is the ideal destination for a study abroad experience. Studying in this city, filled with historic landmarks and world heritage sites, will enrich you culturally and personally. Its ancient streets are filled with lively bars and clubs, local markets and pizzerias where you can sample the famous Italian cuisine.

Milan is also a conveniently positioned hub with three airports, high-speed trains and only a 2-hour drive from the Alps and the coast.

World Endeavors study abroad programs offer full support, starting with airport pickup and accommodation transfer upon arrival followed by an on-site orientation covering health, safety, and local tips. Academic

Academic credit and transcripts are issued by the university after the successful completion of the program. Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is a fully-accredited, state-recognized institution of higher learning. This university’s teaching will help you develop the skills you need to succeed, with a mix of lecture-style tuition and practical experience.

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Eligibility

Applicants to study abroad with World Endeavors must have completed high school (or equivalent), and, in most cases, must be at least 18 years of age. While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status. Please contact a World Endeavors advisor for more detailed eligibility criteria.

Course Load

Courses at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore are lecture and seminar-based, with significant independent study expected. We recommend students take only four courses per semester. Students may take five courses per semester with approval from their Academic or Study Abroad Advisor first.

Italy Study Abroad FAQs

Are meals included in the program fee?

Meals are included in some of the programs. When staying with a family, 1-3 meals a day are included in the program fee. Other types of housing, such as shared apartments, may require you to pay for your own grocery and meal costs.

What if I get sick or hurt while I’m in Italy?

If you get sick while you are in Italy, our In-Country Coordinator will be there to provide support and assistance. They can assist you in case of emergency and also help if you need to see a doctor for an urgent health issue.

How much extra money will I need for my time in Italy?

The amount of money needed for your time in Italy will depend on the program type. A World Endeavors advisor can help you figure out these costs once you decide on a program.
