Going abroad is a great opportunity to gain insight into a different culture and develop a new perspective on the world. It is also a great way to develop foreign language skills, participate in unique projects, and add value to your resume. This page is intended for graduates, professionals, and others who are not currently students.

About World Endeavors

World Endeavors founder Tom Peden started World Endeavors in 2002 with the goal of offering a more culturally immersive, personalized experience for international interns, students, and volunteers. World Endeavors opened its doors with just one volunteer program in Nepal, and soon expanded its uniquely immersive model to include programs in several other countries. Over the years, Tom’s efforts have been joined by a growing team of other passionate explorers, all working hard to make World Endeavors into a company that provides personalized, meaningful experiences abroad for all of its participants.  Today World Endeavors offers international intern, study, volunteer, and group programs in over twenty countries on six continents, with new programs being added every year.

The WE Experience

World Endeavors participants benefit from the support of competent advisors who have experience with international travel and understand what it’s like to go abroad. Our small office and attentive staff ensure that you get prompt and satisfying answers to your questions and concerns. If you are interning abroad, we are your employment advocates. For those studying abroad, we are your international advisors. If you are volunteering, we are your goodwill ambassadors. And if you are going abroad with a group, we are your experienced guides. Our individualized approach ensures that you feel cared for and prepared for your new adventure, ready to expand your horizons and return from your trip having changed your world, and changed yourself.

Our Process

World Endeavors staff members work hard to make going abroad easy. From our first contact with you through the re-entry period at the end of your program, our staff will be there to guide you through the process and provide personalized support. We pride ourselves on getting to know our participants and helping to ensure that their program is a good fit for their needs, interests, and goals.

Once you have selected a program (or programs) of interest, the first step is to submit an application. Our US and in-country staff will review your application, and as soon as we confirm that there is space available in the program during the dates you have requested, we will schedule a short phone interview with you. This allows us to get to know you better, and it also gives you a chance to ask us questions. After the phone interview you will receive your acceptance notification. Once you are accepted, our staff will guide you through the process of preparing to go abroad, advising you on airfare, visas, money, packing, and cultural tips. Our staff will be with you every step of the way, allowing you to focus on the excitement of going abroad!

Health and Safety

The health and safety of our participants is our number one concern, and it is the guiding consideration during our program development process. During our pre-departure preparation and orientation process, we share health and safety information with our participants, and our in-country orientation process also focuses on these topics and on how to respond in case of emergency. By taking common sense precautions, our participants can feel comfortable in their new surroundings and focus on the life-changing experience they have gone abroad to have.

It is important to note that there are risks inherent in any activity, whether at home or abroad. We strongly encourage you to talk with World Endeavors staff about general safety precautions to take while abroad, as well as about how to respond in the unlikely event of an emergency. World Endeavors advisors are experienced travelers themselves, and will be happy to speak with you about your chosen destination.
