About Interning in Mexico
Mexico’s vibrant culture is a melting pot of influences that are ancient and modern, local and international. This dynamic and lively environment is ideal location for interns who want to experience cultural immersion both in and out of the workplace and to feel connected to an international community of professionals in their field. Interns in Mexico have the opportunity to practice their Spanish in a real world setting while gaining hands on work experience that will give them a competitive advantage in the work place.
Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.
World Endeavors’ Internship in Mexico program includes 80 hours of immersive Spanish language training during the first four weeks of the program, for all interns staying two months or longer. Interns spend the first four weeks in Mexico concentrating on their Spanish language skills, and then transition into their internship beginning in the fifth week. Interns with a stronger command of Spanish may in some cases begin their internship earlier.
