About Interning in Italy

Visitors have flocked to Italy for centuries to experience Italian food, language, art, architecture, and music.  The city of Florence has been a center for trade since medieval times, and is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance.  Florence today retains much of its historical charm, while also being a modern and dynamic business center.  Interns who choose Italy as their destination can choose from a wide range of internship fields, from marketing to fashion, information technology to opera.  They gain meaningful international work experience in their field, learn to speak Italian, and spend their free time immersing themselves in all that this amazing country has to offer.

Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.

Language Training

World Endeavors’ Internship in Italy program includes 20 hours per week of intensive Italian language classes for the duration of the program.  For the first four weeks, interns focus solely on language classes, and starting in the fifth week through the end of the program, interns divide their time between language classes and their internship.  Language classes run for 4 hours each morning, and are offered at levels from beginning to advanced.

Internships for Credit

Eligibility

Interns must be 18 years of age or older and have completed high school (or equivalent).  World Endeavors’ International Internship program is open to current students, graduates, and mid-career professionals.
