World Endeavors’ programs take participants to the cities, islands, rainforests and villages that make up the North and South American patchwork. A complex history of indigenous cultures, colonization, and immigration means that nearly every culture from around the world is represented in some region of the Americas. Sugar cane fields in Brazil, Mayan ruins in Mexico, soccer matches in Ecuador, tropical beaches in Jamaica, and late-night parties in Chile are all equally part of the region’s life, and traveling within these two vast continents is a chance to learn just how much these countries have to offer.

Brazil
As the largest country in South America, Brazil is assured of its importance. This is a country with some of the sultriest music, most passionate sports fans, and most stunning rainforest to be found anywhere in the world. Participants who choose a program here may find that the rhythm of Brazil gets under their skin and never quite lets them go.

Chile
Stretching along the western edge of South America, Chile is a country of coastline. Ecuador

Guatemala

Jamaica
Part Caribbean and part African, Jamaica moves to its own rhythm. History placed this island at one corner of the triangle of trade in sugar, rum, and slaves. Jamaica’s culture has been shaped by colonization and by the resistance of escaped slaves, and it’s the birthplace of the Rastafarian religion.
